Mechatronics (Bc.) – professionally oriented study program
Mechatronics is a study program for those who enjoy technology, modern machinery, and finding practical solutions for agriculture, forestry, and automated production.
About the Program
Do you enjoy technology, machines, and figuring out how things work?
If you’re interested in large machinery, control systems, sensors, fault diagnostics, or automation, Mechatronics might be the right program for you.
Over three years, you’ll explore technology from multiple angles—from technical drawings and materials to machine setup, measurement, system control, and working with technologies used in agriculture and forestry.
You’ll study in a joint program of SUA in Nitra and TUZVO. Part of your studies will take place in Nitra, part in Zvolen.
How will the program work?
You won’t be tied to just one university environment. The program utilizes the facilities of both technical faculties.
- Semesters 1-2: The first two semesters you'll study at SUA in Nitra.
- Semesters 3-4: The third and fourth semesters you'll complete at TUZVO.
- Semester 5: The fifth semester will depend on where you complete your internship
- Semester 6: The sixth semester depends on your thesis topic selection.
What will be in your schedule
Core Courses
- Agricultural and Forestry Machinery 1
- Agricultural and Forestry Machinery 2
- Agricultural and Forestry Machinery 3
- Motor Vehicles
- Automation of Technological Processes
- Machine Reliability
- Mechatronics
- Production Systems for Crop Production
- Applied Geometry
What will you learn to do?
- read technical drawings, diagrams, and 3D models,
- understand mechanical, electronic, and information components in machines,
- set up agricultural and forestry machinery, equipment, and control systems,
- work with measurement and sensor systems,
- diagnose faults in technical equipment,
- use CAD and CAE software for modeling and solution optimization,
- navigate PLC control systems,
- work with SmartFarm and Industry 4.0 topics.
Internship won’t be just an add-on
Professional internship is part of the program. The study program allocates 30 credits to internship, so it’s not just a short formality.
Companies and industry partners are involved in the education. You can participate in professional field trips, seminars, training sessions, expert lectures, internships, or work on bachelor’s theses linked to real operations.
What you'll work with during your studies.
During your studies, you’ll encounter topics related to modern technology in the field and in service:
- machine diagnostics,
- measurement of technical parameters,
- sensors and control systems,
- GPS and telematics,
- autonomous tractors and machines,
- machine modifications and upgrades,
- setting up technology for higher precision and efficiency,
- safety when working with technical systems.
Practical Certifications
During your studies, you can obtain certification to operate grain combines and extensions to driving licenses for categories B, C, and T.
Where the program will take you
After completing your studies, you can move into service, diagnostics, maintenance, operations, or management of technical activities.
In practice, the program is linked to the occupation: Manager in Technical Repair Services.
You can work with technology setup, troubleshooting, organizing service activities, communicating with manufacturers or equipment suppliers, preparing technical solutions, and leading a small work team.
What makes the program unique?
Connection of Two Universities
Combines the expertise of the Technical Faculty of SUA and the Faculty of Technology at TUZVO.
Technology for Agriculture and Forestry
The program doesn't study technology in isolation, but directly in the context of agricultural and forestry machinery.
Practical Training
Emphasis is on extensive professional internship, diagnostics, and working with modern technical equipment.
Modern Technologies
Mechanics, electrical engineering, automation, sensors, IT, and Industry 4.0 elements in one program.
